Youth is a time for experimenting, of attempting to discover your own style, and part of that exploration is emulating anyone whose look we admire.  I know Harriet’s taken a lot of my advice in this area, but until today I never realized what a big impression my friend Annie has made on her. Annie stops by the office all the time, for lunch and to visit, and Harriet must have been influenced by her elegant and effortless charm.  Well, who wouldn’t be?  This sweet, timeless navy blue dress with a scalloped collar, pleated skirt, and sheer sleeves has a definite fairy tale feel and is strikingly similar to what I call Annie’s “Alice in wonderland dress”.  Harriet, of course, takes the idea all the way by matching it with a pair of dark blue, modern, Mary Jane wedges and a schoolgirl handbag with delicate floral cutouts.  It’s a combination of Harriet’s constant efforts to improve herself and her determined perfectionism.  If she’s going to do something, she’s going to do it right!

A new day and a new client means it’s “all hands on deck” around the offices and time to “batten down the hatches”.  Hey, you try not to make sailing references when your assistant comes in wearing this adorable navy, printed dress covered in miniature anchors.  With an elastic cinched waist and pocketed skirt it’ll definitely keep you comfortable, but I love how Harriet dresses it up with a slim green belt and sweet but upscale accessories.  These dark blue wedges with crisscrossing straps are a fresh take on the classic Mary Jane, and this folk-inspired caramel bag with floral cutouts has a vintage feel.  Put it all together and what do you get?  Timeless, wholesome and plenty of kitschy fun.  In other words, you get Harriet.
