Grace Under Pressure

So if Jane wasn’t busy enough lately she spent most of the party dealing with an over abundance of socializing and questions about her personal life. But she still took the time to make an effort and dress for the occasion. Personally, I think she did a wonderful job. This lovely, sleeveless, 1950’s style white dress is conservative enough for a private person but still very figure flattering with it’s high neckline, cinched waist and full skirt. The sheer overlay gives it a sophistication that only comes from subtle, tailored details and the large, melon colored blooms have an air of innocence perfect for a baby shower. Paired with simple, thin strapped, taupe summer sandals and a matching, perforated, taupe shoulder bag, Jane fit right in. Even if it wasn’t really her usual kind of party.

World Traveler

A recent conversation with my coworker Jane about the Peruvian mountains, and her ease in describing them, reminded me how well traveled she is.  It also reminded me that the best part of her personal style is the way she picks individual pieces with lots of personality and a worldly flair then somehow makes them all work together.  The perfect reflection of someone with a variety of different personal experiences that all come together when applied to her work.  Like this peplum, pale blue blouse with white lace overlay in a distinctive pattern of circles and stripes.  It’s feminine and reminds me of traditional spanish lace.  She wears it with rolled up, fitted jeans to better show off her earth tone, cutout sandals that have an ancient Greek flair.  Her satchel, like so many of her bags, is an adventurer’s dream made of distressed, brown, faux leather with a skeleton key clasp that reminds me of old European villas and mysteries ready to be unlocked.  Finally this floral inspired, statement necklace is like a modern take on a Hawaiian Lei.  One look at Jane reminds me of all the places I’ve been and makes me long for all the ones I’ve yet to go.

Straight Forward

No matter what life throws at her Jane’s approach is always the same. Stay on target, and look straight ahead to whatever comes next. To some people that might seem like a mood killer, but when things get tough there’s no one better to get everything back on track, and that’s to be admired. I think that’s why Jane has so many practical and comfortable outfits in her wardrobe. It might seem like a waste not to take the opportunity to get dressed up everyday but Jane proves you can still look fantastic without your wardrobe getting in your way. Like this adorable, coral, polka dot button-up blouse. Simple, professional, kitschy, and classic it’s easy to wear and easy on the eyes. Paired with fitted jeans, neutral ankle strap dress sandals, and a pale pink, perforated purse she looks refreshingly ready for anything!
