With the stress of the holidays and the holiday party season in full swing, the last thing you want to focus your energy on is a complicated outfit. Say goodbye to multiple separates and hello to one-piece rompers! It’s one of the most versatile pieces a woman can own – just throw that baby on and go. Rock a romper in a bold color, like this vibrant teal. Pleats come together at the waist for a unique, geometric appeal and shorts are attached below for added comfort. For fringe lovers, add some punch to your look with a boho-luxe clutch in playful florals. All that’s left is a great pair of heels and your favorite accessories. For colder climates, layer with a chic blazer or leather jacket, tights, and low-rise boots for a cute and comfortable winter look. Plan your holiday party, bring your loved ones together, style, smile, impress, and be ready to romp and roll this holiday season.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! As I prepare for a relaxing, holiday weekend at home I find myself already dressing for the occasion. This light, airy, and loose chiffon shirtdress is as comfortable as pajamas but formal enough for the dinner table. The geometric scarf print gives it structure while the tank dress underneath gives you form. Pair with your favorite heels, a subtle necklace, and a stylish tote. Choose a tote that’s large enough to use as an overnight bag if your holiday includes a quick jaunt out of town and can carry all day without raising eyebrows. This bag is structured with a sharp mix of faux leather and snakeskin and has handles as well as a shoulder strap Perfect for both a holiday weekend and the workday that comes right before. Have a great weekend everyone!
I’m always telling people confidence is key, and that starts with your wardrobe. What you wear just sets the tone for the whole day, so if you want to take control of a situation, you have to be bold. Start with this crisp, color blocked, tan and and black tailored jacket. The soft woven fabric mixed with strong lines and faux leather accents make it clear you can be tough and feminine at the same time. The cropped waist is flattering and the peplum hem gives it flair. Add some color with this cascading, V-neck burgundy top. It’s loud but not as flashy as red, and it flows in contrast to the structured jacket. Pair with skinny jeans or tight slacks to counteract the loose blouse and add heels. Finally, grab a small no-nonsense wallet clutch that says you can run the world carrying nothing more than a credit card and a lipstick. Because that’s just the kind of girl you are.
Sometimes you have to go with your instincts, make your own rules, and stand up to anyone who doesn’t agree. A lone cowgirl who is ready for battle and for hard work. That doesn’t have to mean saddle pants, fringe, or cowboy boots. It’s not Halloween. You can still capture the feel of the wild west and keep it professional and feminine. Start with this adorable Southwest inspired boho blazer in ivory, with just a hint of black tribal embroidery down the sleeves. Dress it up by avoiding jeans, and embrace your female power with these light and airy pleated blush slacks. Balance out the light with the dark by adding a bold, deep blue, button up crepe blouse which brings out the embroidered sleeves and really makes them pop. Light colored heels and a pale pink wallet clutch will subtly blend in, while the bag’s gold studs emphasizes the general theme. Lastly, wear with an arrow around your neck to remind yourself to aim true when going after what you want.
Classic with a modern edge, what could be better in the workplace? The classic tweed of this jacket says mature and sophisticated. The modern details, like the faux leather trim and the cinched, flared waistline, are young and feminine. It gives the impression of smart but with a healthy dose of attitude, and you’ll need both to succeed. A tissue tee with chiffon trim in pale mint adds some sweetness to the look and makes you more approachable. Black bootcut jeans compliment the jacket and create the illusion of a suit, but can easily translate from day to night. Finally, this over-sized, boxy leather tote is clearly an overachiever. Big enough to be a briefcase, yet chic enough for an evening out – it can be used for any occasion. Remember, in the workplace flexibility is key.
Time to relax! Whether it’s casual Friday or popping into the office over the weekend, sometimes comfort is a priority. But casual shouldn’t mean sloppy. Instead of an ordinary sweatshirt, try this dressy and elegant knit sweater in pale blue. The baroque inspired gold accents are almost regal, like something a queen would wear on her day off. Or at the very least queen of the office! Choose tailored, colored jeans instead of plain blue and your most comfortable, broken-in heels. Even your cell should dress up a little, perhaps with this chrome and gold iphone case. We all need to take a day off once and a while, but we should never take a break from looking our best
Let’s get serious people! If earlier this week was a fantasy of spring, today it’s all about fall. That means deeper, richer colors, higher necklines, and good old fashioned blue jeans. The feeling is studious and a little artsy. Think back to school, libraries and museums. For inspiration this blazer in jewel toned shades of purple is patterned with paint brush strokes. It reminds you to be creative and make the world your own! Underneath is a lilac button back blouse with long cuffed sleeves and a structured, geometric cut. Even when you remove your jacket, (which you will when the day starts off cool and then warms up), you maintain your professional look. Add to that your favorite pair of blue jeans, (the darker the better), a vintage bag and a neat-as-a-pin updo. Voila! You’ll look ready to tackle any challenge life throws at you. Remember, no one will take you seriously if you don’t take yourself seriously first.
You never know what you have until it’s gone. When summer is at it’s hottest we wish it would hurry up and go away. We long for jackets, sweaters, and boots. Of course, the minute it’s over, we immediately dream of spring. Who says you can’t have the best of both worlds? This silky button down is bursting with happy florals. The collar keeps it conservative while the keyhole feels as refreshing as a sunny day. A bright, loose blazer in power pink keeps you warm without ruining the effect. Finally add a shiny, eye catching, metallic purse and the transformation is complete. Who needs spring to feel fresh and brand new? That’s what your wardrobe is for.
There’s just something about animal prints that makes a girl feel powerful, like she can take on the world. At the same time an animal printed blazer can be a little overpowering for the workplace. Problem solved! A simply patterned sweater in black and white, toned down with a black blazer, tells the world you are strong but in control. Tight black jeans are flattering and necessary when you wear a loose top. And if you have a lot of layers made from thick materials, you should always balance it out with smaller accessories. A compact, thin strapped, structured black purse and a single gold cuff are the only additions to my everyday jewelry. But the best part is after work. Just remove the blazer and let your inner animal out! RAWR!
Fall has arrived! Finally! Even though summer is hanging on it’s finally cooled down enough to start wearing my go-to skinny jeans and look for ways to dress them up for the office. A simple white blouse makes a great neutral base to start playing with some color, and nothing says fall like this french terry blazer in wine. The jewel tone is flattering, the cut makes it dressy, and the fabric is so soft it’s almost a sweater. The polka dots give it spice, while this gorgeous, metallic shoulder bag adds glamour. Nude heels are a great way to transition from open-toed sandals of summer into cooler climates. Keeping it professional with minimal jewelry, a novelty ring I picked up on the fly and my favorite charm necklace. “E” is for Emma and I am Emma Woodhouse.
